A brief history of VPM.
Vantage Property Management has always been family owned and firmly rooted in Northern Anne Arundel County, Maryland.
The Company was originally founded by the Mattingly family back in the 1970s and was then operated as Vantage Real Estate. By the mid 1980’s, the Company operated three real estate sales offices, in the Odenton, Severn and Glen Burnie areas.
In 1986 one of the larger regional real estate sales organizations made an offer to purchase the Company which was just too good to refuse.
Now, with the real estate company sold, what to do with ourselves? Vantage Real Estate had always managed a small number of rental properties for several investors. However, the new purchaser of the Company had no interest in the property management business. So, in 1986 Vantage Property Management came into being, with all of ten properties under our management.
Today we are a considerably larger operation, with over 300 residential investment homes under our care. One very important concept which we choose not to change is that, even though not required to do so by the State, VPM still continues to conduct our property management business under the highest of standards, as a fully licensed real estate brokerage and a member of the local, Maryland and National Association of Realtors.
Does this mean that VPM still sells houses? We surely could, but we don’t. 100% of VPM’s real estate efforts are focused on the rental and management of our clients’ residential investment properties.
In addition to not selling houses, we can NOT be the property management company for everybody. One of VPMs most important “self imposed” rules is that we will only consider the management of properties that are within a twenty five mile radius of our Northern Anne Arundel County office location (Northern A.A. Co., Howard Co., Southern Baltimore Co., and the Laurel and Bowie areas of P.G. Co.).
Strictly adhering to this 25 mile rule, puts VPM in the position of being able to offer the highest level of rental/management expertise on a local basis. Not to mention the cost savings to our property owners by “keeping it local” when repairs and maintenance items are in need of attention.
